SharkBait is a “Boutique” style, local video production company. SharkBait was founded by Thomas Cornell with the goal of bringing high quality story telling to non-profits, small businesses and anyone seeking to enhance their visual presence on the web, in meetings and gala fund raisers.
In the early 70’s, a teacher showed Thomas Cornell a new piece of technology called “a video camera and tape recorder”.The ability to record events and play them back on the spot, piqued his 13-year-old’s need for instant gratification and an A-V nerd was born. In the 40 years since, Thomas has grown with the industry through the sales and promotion video boom of the 80’s to a broadcasting career spanning over two decades. While his primary skills are in shooting and editing, he’s also written scripts, produced, directed and even voiced a variety of pieces. His work has garnered a number of awards including four Emmys.
In addition to his other skills, Thomas is a SCUBA instructor, (NAUI #47357, HSA#3348), Dive Master for SeaLife MN, Aquarist for the Great Lakes Aquarium and an accomplished underwater videographer. While diving in Little Cayman, a Blacktip Reef Shark swam through the group and Thomas, camera in hand, decided to swim along with her. After the excitement passed, Thomas suddenly realized he could have easily become “Shark Bait” and the nickname stuck.
